Bing-powered Queries Grow 4%

compete-search-data-nov-10-dec-2010.JPGThe query volume for Bing-powered search engines (which includes Microsoft Bing as well as Yahoo) grew 4.3% from October to November 2010, increasing from about 4.38 million to 4.57 million, according to new data from Compete. As opposed to October 2010, when dramatic 16.2% growth in month-over-month Microsoft query volume (almost 1.9 million to 2.2 million) drove most of the Bing-powered query volume increase, Yahoo was the catalyst in November. Online Spending Grows 17% Final Shopping Weekend

comscore-holiday-ecommerce-spend-dec-23-2010.JPGThe final shopping weekend before Christmas (Dec. 18-19, 2010) reached $900 million in retail e-commerce spending, representing a strong 17% growth rate compared to$767 million last year, according to new comScore data. For the first 49 days of the November – December 2010 holiday season (Nov. 1 – Dec. 19), $28.36 billion has been spent online, marking a 12% increase from $25.27 billion the corresponding days last year. Small Business Owner Optimism Surges

gallup-small-biz-index-dec-2010.JPGThe Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index, a measure of small-business owners' perceptions of their operating environments, surged 24 points in November 2010, from -28 to -4. This represents a sharp improvement from the previous in July 2010 and suggests that small business owners, though still more pessimistic than optimistic overall, are the most positive they have been since hitting roughly zero in April 2009. 1 in 4 US Adults Lives in Wireless Phone-only Household

nhis-wireless-only-dec-2010.JPGIn the first six months of 2010, more than one of every four US households (26.6%) did not have a landline telephone but did have at least one wireless telephone, according to preliminary estimates from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). Approximately 25% of all adults (or about 57 million adults) lived in households with only wireless telephones; 29% of all children (or more than 21 million children) lived in households with only wireless telephones. Consumers Seek Online Coupons in November

comscore-top-10-gaining-categories-nov-10-dec-2010.JPGCoupon sites ranked as the top gaining US web category for November 2010, according to [pdf] new comScore MediaMatrix data. A record 44 million Americans visited a coupon site during month, up 40% from October 2010. Groupon ranked as the number coupon site with 10 million unique visitors (up 54%), followed by CouponCabin.com with 8.8 million visitors, representing a 400% increase from the prior month. Coupons, Inc. came in third with 6.4 million, while BlackFriday.info saw 5.4 million, up nearly 1,000% month-over-month.
